Cilento and Vallo di diano National Park
The millenary interactions between Nature and Culture have shaped the priceless heritage preserved by the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park. Greek cities and ancient historical centers, castles and farmhouses harmoniously inserted in still uncontaminated naturalistic contexts, rich in rare plants and animals, majestic terraced olive groves, caves, caves, pristine beaches and majestic woods.
Within a few kilometers you pass from the sea to the mountain, from the sea flavors to the typical dishes of the interior. With a gastronomic tradition consisting of local ingredients (vegetables, fish, extra virgin olive oil), home of the famous Mediterranean Diet: here the American scientist Ancel Keys has studied the lifestyle and diet of the territory for years, verifying the beneficial effects on health.
The coastal strip has a typically Mediterranean appearance with a succession of small sandy beaches, steep walls and headlands dominated by the complex system of sighting and defense towers. The archaeological sites of Velia and Paestum, (VII century BC) allow us to admire the most beautiful and best preserved monuments of Magna Graecia.
